Cleaning Pool Tiles
Pools are better when they are clean all the way throughout the year rather than just during the summer months. While your swimming pool may need be used during the cool months of the year, it still serves as a beautiful addition to properties all over, and nobody wants to look at a dirty pool when they are hanging out in the backyard. Dirty pools can also cause a health hazard. When algae starts to grow, it comes with hazardous bacteria that attracts other types of problems, like bugs, birds, and other pests that are familiar with swamp like conditions like some pools that we see. If a swimming pool is not properly taken care of during the winter months, the pool tiles make develop dirt and algae that will cake onto the tiles and start to eat away at the glossy shine and will end up damaging the pool tiles.
We use our tile cleaning chemicals that our professionals use to destroy all levels of dirt build up on tiles. We also will blast away at pool tiles for the ultra dirty ones. For tile grout that has a lot of dirt build up in it, glass bead blasting, using very small beads are very effective at cleaning out the calcium grit, and oil that are stuck in between the pool times. Due to the rounded nature of glass beads, they don't damage the tiles or scratch them during the cleaning process. Another positive thing that comes out of using glass beads to blast pool tiles is that it is eco-friendly and environmentally friendly. Offering a green cleaning solutions works very well for us with customers in the bay area. Salt blasting and soda blasting are two other ways that we work to clean off the calcium buildups and dirt that will accumulate on the surface of tiles and in the grout. Using a lower pressure to clean the pool tiles than glass bead blasting, salt blasting will cause the grit build up to end up releasing from the tiles. This works with ceramic, sandstone, and other tile materials to clean. Since it does have a neutral pH and is biodegradable, sand blasting is a safe option for cleaning pool tiles. It will not clog pool filters and will end up leaving the tiles shiny. Soda blasting is similar to glass bead blasting except that it uses baking soda to blast away the calcium, dirt, grit, and grime from pool tiles. We don't use soda blasting to clean tiles as much as salt and glass bead because it has a higher pH than what is natural for the pool, and afterwards we will have to mess with the balance of the pool. Scrubbing the tiles with stronger bristles sweeps also do well to work every day on the blemishes that the tiles will end up building up. There are better options than scrubbing brushes available that we use, and if you are interested in getting some for yourself, check out your local pool store, or give us a call and we can help point you in the right direction. The exterior area of your pool might also be dirty, and when it rains or when wind blows, the gunk near your pool might blow in and effect the pool and end up getting it all dirty again. We can also work on cleaning the surface around your pool while we are there too. We also recommend looking into getting pool deck resurfacing if there is a problem with stuff sticking to your old pool deck. We find this can actually be a common problem for residential pools that have a decaying pool deck nearby.
